About this product

Rapadura Pumice Foot & Heel Exfoliating Bar

A brick of volcanic pumice shaped like Brazilian raw cane sugar: the Rapadura bar is made without added water, so it lasts for months, and gives feet, heels and rough patches a vigorous polish while hydrating actives keep the skin soft for up to 4 hours after, with a guava-and-vanilla scent. Vegan, 90g.

Feito Brasil (literally "made in Brazil") is a Brazilian house of artisanal luxury, founded by Lena Peron. Each collection pays homage to one region of the country: the names, the native ingredients and the hand-made ornament on every pack come from there, made by communities of women artisans. The line is vegan and not tested on animals. Rapadura is the brown block of unrefined cane sugar sold at every Brazilian roadside, and this bar copies its shape: a dense block of pumice in a palm-and-babassu base, with a sweet guava scent. It is the strongest exfoliant in the range, which is why it is used directly only on the feet and on very rough areas; for the rest of the body, lather it in your hands first.

Three things worth knowing. The shape is not decoration: rapadura is sold in exactly this brick, and the bar is pressed the same way, dense enough to last months. The grit is volcanic pumice, the stone that forms when lava cools full of air bubbles, ground fine and bound in a palm-and-babassu soap base. And it is made without added water, so nothing dilutes it: wet the bar, and the water you add is all the water there is. Keep it dry between uses and it will outlast every scrub in your bathroom.

Why you'll love it
  • Smoother feet and softer heels
  • Skin stays hydrated for up to 4 hours after
  • You set the intensity with your own hands
  • A guava, cherry and vanilla scent
The scent

Guava flower, cherry and cyclamen on top; guava paste, sandalwood and a sheer jasmine in the heart; vanilla, amber and musk at the base. Sweet, in keeping with the name.

Key ingredients
  • Pumice – ground volcanic stone, the exfoliant.
  • Palm, palm-kernel and babassu oil base – the saponified vegetable oils that hold the bar together.
  • Glycerin – humectants, so the skin is not left tight.
How to use
  1. Wet the bar. On the feet and heels, rub it directly over the rough skin.
  2. For the rest of the body, rub the wet bar in your hands and spread the lather over the skin; this keeps the exfoliation gentle.
  3. Rinse, dry the bar and store it out of the water. Once or twice a week.
Who it's for

For rough heels and feet and hard skin on elbows and knees, and for anyone who wants to control the intensity of the scrub with their own hands, once or twice a week.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use it on my legs or arms?
Yes, through your hands: rub the wet bar in your palms and spread the lather. Direct contact with the bar is for the feet and heels.

How long does it last?
Months. It is a dense block made without added water; just keep it dry between uses.

What is the ornament on the pack?
Every Feito Brasil pack carries a small hand-made piece (ceramic, woven fibre, a wooden base, a cloth flower, depending on the collection) made by artisans from the region that inspired the line. Each one is unique, so yours will not be identical to the photo. Keep it: they are meant to be reused as a small decoration.
