About this product

Juba Encaracolando a Juba Curl Cream

The cream people mean when they say 'the Widi cream': Encaracolando a Juba is a rich leave-in for curly hair with murumuru butter, golden linseed oil and hazelnut extract, for definition, nourishment and a soft hold on 3A to 3C curls, from a 500ml bottle.

Widi Care is a hair-care brand from Rio de Janeiro, founded in 2009 by Simone Braga: it started in the city's salons and moved into Brazilian bathrooms in 2016 with its home-care lines, all made in the brand's own factory. Its best-known line is Juba ("mane"), the curly and coily range whose product names are little instructions in Portuguese: Higienizando a Juba (cleansing the mane), Encaracolando a Juba (curling the mane), Modelando a Juba (shaping the mane). Encaracolando a Juba ("curling the mane") is the product people mean when they say "the Widi cream": one of the brand's best-sellers.

It is a leave-in styling cream rather than a gel: it hydrates and nourishes while it defines, so curls dry soft, with movement, not crunchy. The base is murumuru butter, an Amazonian palm butter that coats the strand and holds moisture in, with golden linseed oil for elasticity and hazelnut extract for softness. Use it alone for a natural finish, or under the Modelando a Juba jelly when you want more hold.

Why you'll love it
  • Defined curls with a soft, touchable hold
  • Hydrates and nourishes while it styles
  • Bouncy curls with movement, never crunchy
  • Less frizz, more shine
Key ingredients
  • Murumuru butter – a butter from an Amazonian palm seed; it coats the strand, helps hold moisture in and leaves curls soft without weight. Discover murumuru ↗
  • Golden linseed oil – rich in fatty acids; helps nourish and gives curls elasticity and body.
  • Hazelnut extract – for softness and easier combing.
  • Babassu and coconut oils – light Brazilian palm oil and coconut oil for slip and shine. Discover babaçu ↗
How to use
  1. On damp, freshly washed hair, divide into sections and apply the cream strand by strand, from roots to ends.
  2. Detangle with your fingers or a wide-tooth comb and shape the curls.
  3. Scrunch the ends up towards the roots to encourage the curl pattern.
  4. Let it dry naturally for more volume, or use a diffuser for faster drying and more definition.

More ways to use it:

  • More hold: follow with the Modelando a Juba sealing jelly, applied over the cream.
  • Mixing: Brazilians often mix it 1:1 with the Super Volume gelatin for a lighter finish with more hold.

Frequently asked questions

Is it silicone-free?
Yes. There are no silicones in the formula, so it builds up less between washes and suits routines that avoid silicones.

How do I refresh curls on day two?
Mist the curls lightly with water, smooth a little cream over the ones that lost their shape and scrunch. Let them dry and they spring back.

Does it contain nut oils?
Yes: macadamia seed oil and hazelnut extract. If you have a tree-nut allergy, check the full ingredient list before use.
